Beautiful Hair Recipes with Essential Oils

Sheen and luster are properties that we all would like to have in our hair! However, many commercial hair care products contain toxic ingredients or, at the least, ingredients that, over time, build up on the hair shaft, causing dry or oily hair — hair that lacks the sheen and luster we so desire.

Massaging your hair and scalp with essential oils can promote thicker, shinier, softer, and more manageable hair.*  Using one of these three beautiful hair recipes with essential oils 1-3 times a week will lubricate and condition the scalp, promoting new hair growth and strengthening current hair.*

In addition to benefiting the hair itself, massaging your hair and scalp with one of these three beautiful hair recipes with essential oils can relax the mind, nervous system, and muscles in the neck area.* It also promotes emotional balance and sound sleep.*

DIY Recipes for Different Types of Hair

After preparing your chosen formula, below, massage approximately one teaspoon into your hair and leave on for several hours for maximum absorption.  If you do this at bedtime, wrap a towel around your head for the night.

When you wake, use a natural shampoo (stay away from harsh chemicals!) and wash your hair twice.  Do this 1-3 times a week until the desired effects are achieved.

Normal Hair

• 8 drops Red Thyme
• 6 drops Sage
• 6 drops Blue Chamomile
• 5 drops French Lavender
• 2 tbsp (30 ml) Jojoba

Dry Hair

• 10 drops Sandalwood
• 10 drops Rosewood
• 5 drops Palmarosa
• 2 tbsp (30 ml) Jojoba

Oily Hair

• 9 drops Ylang-Ylang
• 9 drops Lime
• 8 drops Rosemary
  
• 2 tbsp (30 ml) Grape Seed
