The “salt” in our recipe is Epsom salt. You may be familiar with, and probably use this product, but what do you know about this multi-functional ingredient? Actually, Epsom salt isn’t even salt, but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate, named for a bitter saline spring at Epsom in Surrey, England!
This “miracle” product has a million uses and benefits, from household to health. In relation to using it in the bath, as one of the ingredients in our DIY Wake Up Body salt scrub, the magnesium in Epsom regulates the activity of over 325 enzymes, reduces inflammation, helps muscle and nerve function, and helps prevent artery hardening. The sulfates in Epsom salt improve the absorption of nutrients in the body, flushes toxins, and eases migraines.
1 cup Epsom salt
4 tablespoons jojoba or other carrier oil
3 drops rosemary essential oil
2 drops peppermint essential oil
