DIY Cool Scented Compress
Aromatherapy can be an effective aid for relief of headaches and migraines.* Our sense of smell is closely linked to headaches, and combining aromatherapy with a DIY cool scented compress for headaches is the ideal, natural remedy.* You can also swap it out for a warm compress on your neck and shoulders for relaxing muscle tension.*
Headaches can have many causes, such as stress, allergies, sinus infections, and colds/flu. Headaches can also come on suddenly due to more serious conditions, so if you suspect something serious, such as a stroke, seek medical help immediately.
Check out how to make a cool/warm compress below!

DIY Cool Scented Compress

Ingredients

1 cup of dried rice
A tube sock or scrap fabric
1 tbs of liquid oil, such as sweet almond oil or apricot kernel oil
5 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops peppermint essential oil

OR…

Use 7 – 8 drops of our Headache and Migraine Relief Essential Oil Blend (Contains a proprietary blend of peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary, and rosewood essential oils in a concentrate that can be diluted with a carrier oil, such as sweet almond oil.)

Directions

  1. Pour a cup of rice into a clean tube sock, leaving an inch of room at the top. Loosely tie off the top so it doesn’t lose the filling.
  2. Place in the freezer until cold. Take out and reopen, adding in the essential oils and carrier oil. Tie it off well and shake.
  3. Hold against forehead and temples. Alternate with the back of your neck/shoulders if needed.
  4. If using a hot compress, pop into the microwave instead (be sure not to overheat!). Add oils after heating.

Body Mind Stress Relief Lotion with Bach flower essences, pure essential oils, and gem elixirs is a fabulous complement to the DIY cool scented compress.
