Headaches can come on when you least expect them. They may emerge as a result of stress, lack of food or water, exhaustion, tension, or medical issues. Popping Advil or ibuprofen occasionally is OK, but doing so regularly could have long-term detrimental effects on your health. Alternatively, using aromatherapy for headaches and migraines is safe and natural.
Probably the most common way to use aromatherapy for headaches and migraines is to do so topically. Be sure to dilute the essential oil blend with a carrier oil, such as sweet almond or jojoba, and massage onto forehead, neck, or temples. The essential oil scents will stay with you and help directly alleviate tension and headaches.*
Add the essential oil blend to your diffuser and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Place 1 – 3 drops of essential oils on a tissue, paper towel, or cotton ball. Place near your nose and inhale deeply. Repeat with several breaths.
Steam inhalation, using a vaporizer, or even putting a few drops of essential oil into a warm bath will also help relieve symptoms and contribute to a sense of relaxation and well-being.*
Are you familiar with “tapping” (EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques)? This is a powerful and very effective way to bring up and release negative emotional patterns that have been “stuck” in your body, maybe for years. By releasing this stuck energy, you experience pain relief.*
Order our free EFT tapping script for pain relief and for anxiety relief, below, along with the essential oils mentioned in this article.
