Love having a fresh smelling home, but hate using chemical additives to achieve a fresh scent? Unfortunately, most of the commercial products made to scent and deodorize the home are full of dangerous man-made chemicals. These dangerous substances can lower indoor air quality and damage your respiratory system. Using essential oils is a chemical-free natural way to freshen your home. Just a whiff of a fresh fragrance instantly brightens your mood and makes your home feel extra clean.*
All you need is a few drops of your favorite essential oils and a dropper! When you replace the air filters in your home, simply squeeze a few drops of your favorite oil (or combinations of oils) onto the filter. This chemical-free natural way to freshen your home will keep your house smelling great.
Water bead diffuser is another idea for a natural way to freshen your home. Sometimes it’s hard to find an air freshener with the fragrance you like. These water bead diffusers are easy to make and you don’t have to plug them in. You can find the water beads on Amazon. A small amount of these beads makes a lot.
Place 1 tablespoon water beads in a jar, fill the far with water leaving about 2 inches at the top. Let the beads sit for about 6 hours. The water beads will grow and fill the jar. Using a smaller jar fill it with water beads and add 10 drops of your favorite essential oil(s). Following are a few of our favorites.

Rice and essential oils air diffuser is a really quick, affordable and natural way to freshen your home making it smell nice and fancy with virtually little to no work! Plus if you don’t have a diffuser on hand, this is a great way to diffuse essential oils without one, either reed or electric.
Disperse the essential oils as evenly as you can throughout the rice. Depending on what oils you’re using and your personal preferences you may need to add in a little more or less, just make it your own! When the air freshener begins to lose its scent just, add in a few more drops of essential oil, give it a quick shake or stir.
Caution: If you have pets or children that might try to eat the rice, make sure you put it out of their reach to be safe.
Note: You can substitute baking soda for the rice in this recipe. However, we like the looks of the rice compared to the baking soda. Black rice especially looks very rich and fancy!
Need to vacuum and want to eliminate an unpleasant odor ? Whip up another natural way to freshen your home with essential oils for you vacuum cleaner.
In a glass measuring cup or other small glass bowl combine all ingredients and stir until there are now lumps. Sprinkle over carpet or hard surface and vacuum up immediately. You can use a small shaker that was made for spices (find them on Amazon).
Try a Tranquil Spa – 10 drops eucalyptus, 5 drops lavender or a Orange Creamsicle – 10 drops orange, 5 drops vanilla or any of your favorite essential oils or combinations.
This natural way to freshen your home with essential oils is easy as adding a few drops of essential oil to a wooden clothes pin and clip it to a car air vent or floor furnace vent. The wood absorbs the oil and releases the great scent into the airflow. Much less expensive than the store bought vent fresheners and easy to tailor to your likes.
