Stress Support : Adrenal Cortisol Support*

Stress Support : Adrenal Cortisol Support*

Stress Support : Adrenal Cortisol Support The adrenal glands are like your body’s own pharmacy. These tiny organs produce at least 50 different hormones, including cortisol, adrenaline, and DHEA. DHEA helps produce other hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. Natural DHEA levels peak in early adulthood and then slowly fall as you age.The adrenals sit on top of each kidney and are responsible for several critical functions in the body. They help regulate blood sugar levels, manage stress response and inflammation, produce sex hormones (testosterone in men; estrogen/progesterone in women), support muscle growth—and that’s just a short list!

If you’re feeling tired or run down all the time (like many people do these days), it’s worth taking a closer look at your adrenal health to see if there might be something going on here (besides being tired).

Adrenal Support Cortisol Manager*

Adrenal Support helps to manage cortisol levels and support the adrenal glands. It also helps with stress, fatigue, sleep, energy, weight loss and mood swings.

Adrenal function is often compromised by an overstimulated sympathetic nervous system (SNS). The SNS predominates when we are in fight-or-flight mode: it activates the liver to release glucose into the bloodstream; it dilates arteries to facilitate greater blood flow; and increases heart rate while constricting veins so that there is less blood returning to the heart. This can cause high blood pressure if left unchecked for long periods of time.

The SNS also causes sweating/flushing when exposed to heat or cold; pupil dilation when confronted with sudden movements by another person (think hand waving); increased salivation at the sight of food—all signs that indicate your body has entered into its “fight” response mode which results in what we call stress!

Adrenal Fatigue & Cortisol*

Cortisol is a hormone that plays an important role in the body’s response to stress. When you are under prolonged periods of stress, such as from work or school deadlines, your body produces more cortisol. While this helps you deal with short-term stressors, it can cause problems when you have high levels over an extended period of time. High levels of cortisol can lead to fatigue, depression, anxiety and weight gain.

Cortisol helps regulate blood pressure and blood sugar levels by signaling the release of glucose into your bloodstream after eating food or drinking liquid calories (such as sugary drinks). It also signals muscles to store fat instead of burning it for energy.

Stress Support : Adrenal Cortisol SupportHow to Lower Cortisol Naturally*

  • Aromatherapy – diffusing during the day and/or night
  • Go for a massage or facial
  • Do some deep breathing exercises
  • Physical activities – workout with weights, Zumba, tai chi, yoga, swimming, sports
  • Hobbies – find something you enjoy for pure simple pleasure, not something out of responsibility or obligation
  • Laugh – watch a funny movie often! Laughter has been shown to increase the immune system, while watching sad movies suppress it by over 50%
  • Sleep – 7-8 hours a night. It is best to be in bed by 10:30 pm, as your “second adrenaline” kicks in at 11:00 pm.  This is not to help you stay up all night and party!!! Rather to give your detoxifying organs that work the night shift, energy to do its job as best as it can
  • Eat well
  • Practice meditation, breathing deeply and calmly in a quiet place (like your bed)

It’s best to avoid stress as much as possible since it can be very taxing on the body and mind, causing higher levels of cortisol to be released into the bloodstream. You should also avoid caffeine, which can exacerbate anxiety and nervousness by increasing cortisol production in the body.
