Roman Chamomile Pure Essential Oil Background Information
The ‘noble’ chamomile plant was used going as far back as the Egyptians. They devoted it to their gods because of its healing properties, predominantly when it was used for the acute fever also known as Ague. The Romans also used Chamomile in their medicines, aromatherapy, and drinks.
During the middle ages this specific species of chamomile was mostly a ‘strewing’ herb. This created a nice atmosphere filled with better smells during gatherings and the odd celebration. They sometimes would walk along the oil sacs in the flowers and released the beautiful bouquet of aroma into the atmosphere.
Another use for chamomile in the twelve to sixteen hundreds was beer. The taste was somewhat bitter but it was an exciting replacement for “hops” at the time. It had a bitter taste in beer during the middle ages, and was replaced by hops at a later time.

- Add 3 drops to a hot bath for a blissful retreat. Blend small quantity with jojoba oil for a great massage rub.

- Tub Soak – First combine 8 ounces baking soda, 4 ounces of citric acid, 4 ounces of corn starch, 4 ounces epsom salts, 3/4 teaspoon water. Then add 2 teaspoons Roman chamomile pure essential oil and lavender pure essential oils and 2 1/2 teaspoons almond oil. Press the mix into a mold and let it cure for 24 hours.
- Night Time Posey – Combine witch hazel, 10 drops of Roman chamomile pure essential oil and 10 of lavender pure essential oil. Add 4-5 drops of orange pure essential oils in a small spray bottle. Apply this to your linens before for bed to get a better night’s rest.
