How frequency charged oils work at BioSource Naturals begins with the intentional energetic preparation of aromatherapy products using Reiki, color and light, sound and musical frequencies, programmable frequency generators, or a combination of these approaches.*
These methods come from different traditions and periods of history. Reiki developed within a Japanese spiritual and healing tradition. Color-energy practices have roots in several systems, including chakra traditions and early experiments with colored light. Sound practices draw upon the measurable physical properties of vibration as well as longstanding traditions connecting music, emotion, meditation, and spiritual practice. Modern programmable frequency systems use electronic generators capable of producing precisely defined electrical frequencies.
At BioSource Naturals, we bring these ideas together as complementary energetic preparation practices. We do not suggest that frequency charging changes the chemical composition of an essential oil or transforms an oil into a medication, vitamin, mineral, peptide, or homeopathic preparation. Instead, frequency charging is offered to customers who wish to incorporate intention, ritual, color, sound, Reiki, or frequency-based practices into their aromatherapy experience.*
This page explains the history and theory behind the different methods we use.
The word frequency has a specific scientific meaning: the number of repeating cycles of a periodic event occurring during a particular amount of time. Frequency is commonly expressed in hertz (Hz), or cycles per second.
Sound has measurable frequencies. Electromagnetic radiation, including visible light, also has measurable frequencies and wavelengths. Electronic frequency generators can produce measurable electrical signals at selected frequencies.
This is different from the broader use of the word frequency within energetic and spiritual traditions.
Ideas such as a particular frequency representing an emotion, chakra, vitamin, peptide, intention, or energetic state belong to complementary or experimental systems of interpretation. These relationships should not be confused with established chemical or pharmacological equivalence.
At BioSource Naturals, we think it is important to distinguish between the two.
The sound, light, and electronic signals used during some of our preparation methods are physically measurable. The idea that exposure to these signals leaves a lasting energetic quality within an aromatherapy product is a complementary practice and has not been scientifically established.*
Reiki is a Japanese practice centered around the concept of ki, commonly translated as life-force or vital energy.
Mikao Usui developed the system known as Usui Reiki Ryoho in Japan during the early 1920s. Historical Reiki research documents Usui teaching Chujiro Hayashi, who subsequently taught Hawayo Takata. Takata learned from Hayashi in Japan and became a Reiki Master in 1938 before becoming instrumental in establishing Reiki in Hawaii and throughout the Western world.
Reiki traditions place considerable importance on lineage—the succession of teachers through whom a practitioner received training. Within Usui Reiki, a lineage ultimately traces the practitioner’s training back to Mikao Usui.
BioSource Naturals founder Lezlie Cebulski is a Usui Reiki Ryoho Reiki Master Teacher.
Lezlie completed earlier Reiki I and Reiki II training with Lisa Guyman and later completed Reiki Master Teacher training with Advanced Studies under Reiki Master Teacher Sue Burton-Hidalgo in 2017.
Her Master Teacher certificate documents a lineage within the Western Usui Reiki tradition ultimately connecting through Hawayo Takata → Chujiro Hayashi → Mikao Usui. The history of Western Reiki independently documents the important Usui-Hayashi-Takata succession and Takata’s role in spreading Reiki throughout the West.
When Reiki preparation is selected for a BioSource Naturals product, Lezlie personally performs the Reiki charging with the intention:
“Highest healing and highest good for all.”
Reiki is incorporated as a complementary spiritual and wellness practice rather than a medical treatment.
Intention is the common thread connecting all of the energetic preparation methods used at BioSource Naturals.
A customer selects an intention such as:
The intention then provides a framework for choosing a complementary preparation method, color correspondence, musical tone, or programmable frequency program.
For example, a blend associated with forgiveness might be paired with green, traditionally associated with the heart chakra and themes of compassion and emotional openness.
These correspondences come from traditional and complementary systems rather than established medical science.
Humans have associated colors with emotions, symbolism, spirituality, and ritual for thousands of years.
Modern science also establishes that light is physical electromagnetic radiation and that light exposure can produce real biological effects under particular circumstances. That scientific fact, however, does not establish every historical or contemporary claim made about individual colors.
BioSource Naturals draws inspiration from several color traditions while keeping this distinction clear.
One particularly interesting chapter in the history of color therapy was the work of Dinshah Pestanji Ghadiali (1873–1966).
Ghadiali developed a system he called Spectro-Chrome and introduced it in the United States around 1920. His equipment used an electric light source and selected colored filters to expose a person to particular colors. The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History preserves examples of his Spectro-Chrome equipment and describes the system as an alternative healing method based upon visible light.
Ghadiali developed an elaborate theory in which different colors were believed to correspond with different states of physiological balance. His system eventually incorporated 12 principal colors, produced through individual colors and combinations of colored filters.
His son, Darius Dinshah, continued preserving and teaching aspects of his father’s color system and authored Let There Be Light, a practical manual describing Spectro-Chrome.
BioSource Naturals maintains colored filters and lamps for intentional color-light preparation and draws upon this historical tradition as one of several sources for exploring relationships among color and energetic intention.
It is equally important to understand the historical controversy. Ghadiali made sweeping medical claims for Spectro-Chrome that were challenged by U.S. authorities, and examples of his equipment were ultimately seized by the FDA. The Smithsonian preserves this history as part of the story of American medicine and alternative health practices.
BioSource Naturals does not make those historical disease-treatment claims. Our use of color is an intentional and complementary energetic practice.
BioSource Naturals also uses a set of colored metal charging plates obtained from Reiki Master Teacher Sue Burton-Hidalgo.
This is a separate method from filtered-light preparation similar to Spectro-Chrome.
For this approach, an individual product is placed directly upon a selected colored plate during its energetic preparation. The color may be chosen to complement the intention or traditional energetic qualities associated with the aromatherapy blend.
For example, green might be selected for themes involving compassion, forgiveness, love, or emotional openness, while another color could be selected for grounding, tranquility, confidence, creativity, or reflection.
We do not attribute a specific scientific mechanism to these plates. Their use is part of an intentional color-energy practice.
Some of the color correspondences used in energetic preparation also draw upon traditional chakra concepts.
Within contemporary chakra traditions, colors are commonly associated with different energetic centers and themes. For example, green is frequently associated with the heart chakra, blue with communication and expression, and lower-spectrum colors with themes involving embodiment, grounding, and security.
These associations can provide a useful symbolic vocabulary for choosing how a product will be energetically prepared.
However, chakra systems are spiritual and traditional frameworks. Chakras and their proposed energetic relationships are not established anatomical structures, and we do not use chakra correspondences to diagnose health conditions.
Sound provides an especially interesting bridge between the measurable and the experiential.
A musical note is produced by vibration. Its fundamental frequency can be measured in hertz. Change the frequency and we perceive a different pitch.
Music can also have profound subjective associations. A melody may feel peaceful, uplifting, melancholy, energizing, contemplative, or grounding.
For centuries, cultures have incorporated chanting, bells, singing bowls, drums, musical instruments, and vocal tones into meditation, ceremony, prayer, and spiritual practice.
At BioSource Naturals, sound-frequency preparation combines the measurable phenomenon of sound vibration with this much older tradition of using sound intentionally.
A product may be exposed to a selected:
musical note • sustained tone • recorded frequency • tuning fork • musical instrument
The tone can be selected according to the intended emotional, spiritual, color, or chakra correspondence of the product.
For example, the purpose isn’t to claim that a musical note chemically changes an essential oil. Rather, sound becomes another element of the intentional preparation ritual surrounding the blend.
Some complementary systems take this idea further by creating correspondences among musical notes, colors, emotions, physical experience, mental states, and spiritual themes.
BioSource Naturals has studied systems such as the BioWaves approach that organize musical tones and colors into broader energetic correspondences.
Rather than reproducing another system’s therapeutic claims, we use these concepts as inspiration for a simpler framework:
Sound → Color → Intention
A selected note can be paired with a color and a personal intention involving physical well-being, emotional harmony, mental clarity, or spiritual connection.
The specific claim that an individual note or color produces a predictable therapeutic effect is not scientifically established. We use these relationships as complementary symbolic and energetic correspondences.
Our most technologically involved preparation option uses programmable frequency generators.
A frequency generator is an electronic device capable of producing electrical signals at selected frequencies. Unlike a symbolic color or intention, the electrical output itself is physically measurable.
BioSource Naturals uses programmable Spooky2 frequency-generation equipment with charging plates. A product can be placed on the charging equipment while a selected frequency program or sequence is run.
Spooky2 currently describes its software as containing more than 60,000 frequency programs, and its downloadable materials include numerous program databases and specialized presets.
Modern alternative frequency-generator systems are often discussed in connection with the work of Royal Raymond Rife, an American inventor and microscope researcher active during the first half of the twentieth century.
Rife experimented with electronic frequency-generating equipment and proposed that microorganisms possessed characteristic resonant frequencies. Historical collections preserve records of the instruments, frequency charts, laboratory notes, and other documents associated with his work.
Rife’s theories later inspired a broad category of devices commonly called Rife machines or frequency generators.
It is important to distinguish historical interest from scientific validation. Rife made substantial therapeutic claims that have not become accepted medical treatments. BioSource Naturals does not use programmable frequency charging to treat microorganisms, diseases, or medical conditions.
Our interest is considerably narrower: using programmable frequencies as one method of complementary energetic product preparation.
Modern programmable systems have expanded far beyond the original historical Rife frequency lists.
One particularly interesting approach is the creation of frequency programs associated with the molecular weight of a substance.
Spooky2’s own documentation describes a process in which the molecular weight of a substance is entered into its software and converted by the system into a frequency. Its software includes presets the company describes as designed for molecular-weight frequency work.
The current Spooky2 distribution also includes specialized peptide-related presets and other experimental frequency databases.
This makes it possible within the system to select frequency programs associated with concepts or substances such as:
vitamins • minerals • peptides • molecules • homeopathic preparations • nutritional substances • other energetic correspondences
This distinction is extremely important.
If a programmable frequency system contains a frequency program associated with a particular vitamin, mineral, peptide, homeopathic preparation, or other substance:
the physical substance is not present in the frequency.
Running a program associated with magnesium does not put magnesium into an essential oil.
Running a peptide-associated program does not put that peptide into the oil.
A frequency program does not reproduce the chemical structure, nutritional value, pharmacology, or demonstrated biological effects of the physical substance.
Although Spooky2 itself uses terminology such as “emulate” for some of its molecular-weight presets, that terminology describes the manufacturer’s frequency-system theory; it should not be interpreted as established evidence that the frequency duplicates the biological action of the substance.
At BioSource Naturals, these are therefore described as frequency representations associated with a substance, not substitutes for the substance itself.
Frequency-generator communities sometimes use terms such as imprinting, entrainment, or charging to describe exposing another material to a frequency signal.
Spooky2 itself publishes instructions demonstrating what it calls frequency imprinting using a PEMF coil, including placing a liquid near the coil while a selected program runs.
BioSource Naturals uses the more straightforward term frequency charging for our product-preparation process.
A selected product is placed on charging equipment connected to a programmable frequency generator. The chosen program is then run for the preparation period selected for that program.
The electrical signal produced by the generator is measurable. However, the proposition that the product permanently retains that frequency—or subsequently produces the biological effects associated with a named program—has not been scientifically established.
That distinction is central to how we describe our service.
You don’t need to understand frequency generators, musical notes, chakra systems, or color theory to request energetic preparation.
Instead, you select your intention amongst these options.
Perhaps you want your aromatherapy ritual to center around forgiveness. Maybe you’re interested in grounding, calm, confidence, creativity, focus, emotional balance, renewal, compassion, or spiritual connection.
Lezlie then considers the product, the customer’s intention, and the selected preparation method to determine an appropriate color, sound correspondence, Reiki preparation, programmable frequency program, or combination.
The purpose is to create a preparation that is individualized rather than mechanical.
There is no scientifically established amount of time required to “charge” an essential oil.
Preparation time therefore depends upon the method.
Color or sound preparations may use a standardized exposure period. Reiki preparation is personally performed by Lezlie. Programmable frequency charging generally follows the duration of the selected program or sequence, which can range from minutes to considerably longer depending upon the program.
We do not claim that longer exposure necessarily produces a “stronger” product.
Consistency and documentation are more important to our process than making unsupported claims about an ideal charging time.
When an individual product receives customized energetic preparation, we want you to know what was actually done.
That is why individually customized BioSource Naturals products include a signed Energetic Preparation Record.
Depending upon the preparation selected, your record may document:
Product • Date • Intention • Preparation Method • Color • Chakra Correspondence • Musical Note • Sound Frequency • Frequency Program • Specific Frequencies • Exposure Time • Reiki Preparation
Each record is personally completed and signed by Lezlie Cebulski.
We believe this transparency is particularly important with frequency work. Rather than simply saying that a bottle has been “charged,” the record tells you how your individual product was prepared.
Essential oils already provide an extraordinary sensory experience through aroma.
Smell is unusual among our senses because olfactory information has particularly direct relationships with brain regions involved in emotion and memory. This is one reason an aroma can become strongly associated with a person, place, experience, or emotional state.
Energetic preparation adds another intentional layer to that sensory ritual.
A person might smell a particular blend while meditating, practicing EFT tapping, journaling, breathing slowly, praying, visualizing, or simply taking a moment to become present.
Over time, the aroma itself can become part of a familiar personal ritual.
From our perspective, that intentional relationship with the product matters more than making extraordinary claims about what a frequency can do.

BioSource Naturals has always been interested in the place where science, nature, sensory experience, and traditional energetic practices intersect.
But those areas should not be confused with one another.
We know that sound waves exist.
We know that visible light consists of electromagnetic radiation.
We know that electronic generators can produce measurable frequency signals.
We also know that essential oils contain measurable aromatic molecules capable of interacting with our olfactory system.
Those are physical phenomena.
The idea that Reiki energy, a chakra correspondence, a particular color, musical frequency, or electronic frequency program can be transferred to an essential oil and remain there as a lasting energetic property belongs to the realm of traditional, spiritual, complementary, and experimental practice.
We think there is room to explore these traditions while being clear about that distinction.
We do not claim that energetic or frequency charging changes the chemical composition of an essential oil. The essential oil remains the same physical aromatic product.
No. A frequency program associated with a vitamin, mineral, peptide, homeopathic preparation, or other substance does not add that physical substance to the product.
Yes. An intention may center around themes such as grounding, forgiveness, tranquility, compassion, confidence, focus, creativity, renewal, emotional balance, or spiritual reflection.
No. You select the intention. Lezlie can select the color, sound correspondence, or programmable frequency program appropriate to the preparation method you choose.
Yes. Individually prepared products can have different intentions and energetic preparations.
Yes. Individually customized products include a signed Energetic Preparation Record documenting the applicable preparation information.
No. Reiki is a spiritual energy practice performed by a trained practitioner. Programmable frequency charging uses electronic frequency-generating equipment. BioSource Naturals offers them as distinct preparation methods.
Not necessarily. BioSource Naturals may use filtered-light methods influenced by historical color traditions or separate colored charging plates. We do not claim to provide medical Spectro-Chrome therapy.
No. BioSource Naturals’ energetic and frequency charging services are complementary wellness and spiritual practices and are not medical treatments.
For readers interested in exploring the history behind these practices, useful sources include the International Center for Reiki Training‘s history of Reiki, which discusses Usui, Hayashi and Takata and the development of Western Reiki.
The Smithsonian National Museum of American History maintains Spectro-Chrome equipment in its collection and documents Dinshah Ghadiali’s development and promotion of the system beginning around 1920, as well as its controversial regulatory history.
Historical Rife collections preserve laboratory notes, frequency charts and documents associated with Royal Raymond Rife’s experimental frequency work. These documents are historically interesting but should not be interpreted as modern clinical validation of Rife’s therapeutic theories.
For information specifically about the equipment and software used by BioSource Naturals, Spooky2 publishes its current software, manuals and frequency-program information, including documentation of molecular-weight programs and frequency-imprinting techniques. These sources describe the manufacturer’s system and theories, not independent proof of therapeutic efficacy.

BioSource Naturals energetic preparation methods—including Reiki, chakra and color correspondences, Spectro-Chrome-inspired color practices, sound and musical-frequency charging, and programmable frequency charging—are complementary wellness and spiritual practices. Historical theories and manufacturer terminology are presented for educational purposes and do not constitute scientific validation. Frequency programs associated with vitamins, minerals, peptides, homeopathic preparations, medications, or other substances do not contain those substances and should not be considered chemically or therapeutically equivalent to them. These services and products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease and are not substitutes for appropriate medical care.
