- Spearmint essential oil is a natural analgesic for joint pain. Using spearmint topically on aching joints caused by hypothyroidism may improve circulation and relieve pain.
- Peppermint essential oil is known to aid in digestion, inhaling peppermint oil can also reduce nausea. If your metabolism is sluggish from an underactive thyroid, try adding this essential oil to your diffuser or dilute in a carrier oil and massage on your belly
- Myrrh essential oil can help stimulate the endocrine system to balance the production of Thyroxin.* This oil has also been used as an anti-inflammatory agent. Helpful Essential Oil Blends For Thyroid Issues*
If thyroid hormone deficiency is due to pituitary or hypothalamus, try these essential oils that stimulate and oxygenate the pituitary and hypothalamus:*
- Cedarwood essential oil (warm, smoky scent with an undertone of mild, floral citrus).
- Frankincense essential oil (balsamic, woody, typical olibanum scent).
- Rose geranium essential oil (rosy aroma).
- Sandalwood essential oil (warm, earthy, precious-wood scent).
These essential oils can be used aromatically as well as diluted in a carrier oil. All of the above blend nicely together. Experiment and make your own signature perfume for your neck!
Second thyroid blend contains clove bud (warm, strong, spicy, and woody aroma), which has antioxidants that can support the thyroid and your liver in the process.
Thyroid Support Blend*
- 8 drops lemongrass essential oil
- 5 drops frankincense essential oil
- 5 drops myrrh essential oil
- 8 drops lavender essential oil
- 5 drops clove essential oil
- Carrier oil of choice
Combine oils in a 9 ml roller ball bottle and then fill to the top with carrier oil. Roll directly on the thyroid 3 to 4 times throughout the day.
