Product Overview

• Country of Origin: Originates from Somalia. Extracted through steam distillation of gum resin.
• Odor: Balsamic, typical olibanum.

Description:
Frankincense essential oil has a fresh, woody, balsamic, slightly spicy, and fruity aroma. It is said to have a centering effect on emotions and has been traditionally used for meditation and spiritual growth. The oil is derived from resin that seeps out of injured bark of the Frankincense tree, which can grow up to 20 feet tall and features shiny, wax-like leaves and white flowers. The oil exudes a warm and sweet scent.

Frankincense trees are most commonly found in Somalia, China, Ethiopia, and Southern Arabia. Historically, the Chinese used the resin paste to treat tuberculosis and leprosy, while the incense was used to fumigate rooms of the sick. The Egyptians utilized the resin as incense, perfume, a makeup ingredient, and even as an embalming tool. Many cultures, especially the Egyptians, burned Frankincense incense during religious ceremonies and offered it to their deities.
