Our Favorite DIY Holiday Gifts Using Essential Oils

Our Favorite DIY Holiday Gifts Using Essential OilsWhen it’s cold outside, we love to curl up with a cozy blanket and a cup of hot tea. But when the holiday season rolls around, we like to add some extra cheer with DIY holiday gifts using essential oils.

Candy Cane Bath Bombs

If you want to get in the holiday spirit, try making some bath bombs with your favorite essential oils. They’re easy to make and smell so good!

You can use any mold you want to make these bath bombs. You can use muffin tins or candy molds. Just note that when silicon trays are used, the mix needs to completely dry before removal.

To start, fill your mold with baking soda and then add water until it is almost full. Put two tablespoons of epsom salt into each cavity of your bath bomb mold and then fill up the rest with more baking soda. Sprinkle on some candy cane pieces (you can crush them or leave them whole). Add about 10 drops of peppermint or spearmint essential oil for fragrance!

Cinnamon Room Spray

Our Favorite DIY Holiday Gifts Using Essential OilsHomemade Sugar Scrub

To make this recipe, you will need:

    • 1 cup of sugar. Your choice of color and flavor. Try to avoid any refined sugars—they have a tendency to be processed so much that they contain little nutritional value for your body.* We recommend organic cane sugar or coconut palm sugar because they are less processed than regular white or brown sugars.*
    • 1/4 cup sweet almond carrier oil
    • 1/4 fractionated coconut oil
    • 10 drops essential oil(s). You can choose any combination of mint like bergamot essential oil, our own Citrus essential oil blend, floral like geranium essential oil, woodsy like juniper essential oil or spicy like allspice essential oil scents. Essential oils like sweet orange and peppermint are great for wintertime moisture because they help warm up sore muscles after a long day out in the cold weather; lavender essential oil  works well during summer months when we’re more likely to get bug bites or sunburned skin due to increased exposure outside.*
    • A glass container with an airtight lid large enough to fit all ingredients plus extra room at the top if needed (you don’t want things spilling over while mixing). Add half a cup of the sugar to a small bowl. Add  the almond oil and mix well. Add the coconut oil and mix well. Add the rest of the sugar and mix well. Add the essential oil and mix well. Store in two small containers we recommend mason jars.

    Homemade Nourishing Hand  Cream

This homemade hand cream recipe is perfect for the winter months. It nourishes and soothes your skin and is made with non-toxic (and easy to find) ingredients*.

Melt the shea butter, beeswax, and sweet almond oil together in a double boiler. (Use a Pyrex measuring cup and place it in a pot of simmering water). Stir the mixture as it melts. Once everything is melted, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes. Stir in the essential oils, and pour the liquid hand cream into a small glass container. Allow it to harden completely (this usually takes several hours).
